Today's Quote

Only those who dare to fail greatly can achieve greatly.

The big wheel groaned and came to life as we were leaving... and a great time was had by all. This was my first time to the fair, without kiddos and animals, since Ann and I have been married. I was lost! Enjoy the day...and start looking at these photos from the bottom up... later..

Lots of booths for folks wanting to get your money....
Stan Moffat

We ran across some friends who kept their calves at our place for several years... these ladys are a hoot!!
Stan Moffat

The young man in western attire probably spent hundreds of dollars for just the right look, and was walking along scratching his behind.. haha... Grandma and I laughed and laughed.. if he only knew, clothes make the man, but sometimes actions help too... haha...
Stan Moffat

Some folks went high and fast... and round and round...
Stan Moffat

lots of food, people, games, and the ole man in the moon watching over the last day of this year to end after 8pm.
Stan Moffat

Now the rides were alive with folks...
Stan Moffat

Then, it was time to head to the car, as my legs and feet were killing me.. but first. the sitting sun provided one last glimmer of entertainment for us as we were leaving... and it was an awesome site to behold...
Stan Moffat

The drum circle kept busy

more pride...
Stan Moffat

each piece has special meaning and in most cases is hand me downs for generation to generation...
Stan Moffat

I beamed with pride when I saw this young man teaching his kiddo the meaning of tradition and pride in his heritage. We should all do more of this.... I told him I truly admired him.
Stan Moffat

then we went to a Pow Wow...
Stan Moffat

And the winner is..... first prize to Elinore Moffat, for Dylan Scott Moffat who will arrive on November 29, 2006. Not too long...
Stan Moffat

here is grandma Moffat and great grandma Moffat checking out her baby blanket she made and entered in the fair. Aunt Marilyn planned the big surprise and we think she did surprise her, in spite of me almost telling her!
Stan Moffat

We even ran into family and ate dinner together.. and then it was off to show the young lady in the photo her winnings... she did not know... yet...
Stan Moffat

lots of folks had the same idea... even saw a neighbor, in the red cap, who lives one house away from us for the first time in a year... haha...
Stan Moffat

we decided to eat a bit.. and there was a long line, but lots of time to catch up with friends and neighbors...
Stan Moffat

there were toy trains coming and going...
Stan Moffat

and while there... we found this little blanket made by Elinore Moffat, age 87, of Perkins for another of her great grandchildren who is on the way... but not here yet... of course, another first place, congrats mom!!
Stan Moffat

We ran out to see if any of my photos won a ribbon or not, and we did not.... sigh.... but, maybe next year...??? We did win what we went after, showing the most wins a Family Portrait.. so we did, and I have to get my pic in the paper for having the most photos entered... anyway... we will do this in the spring of 2007 so we can have our newest grandbaby in the photo too.... yeah haw...
Stan Moffat

and more rides... just waiting for folks to jump on...
Stan Moffat

the flags were blowing in the wind, and KGFY was getting ready to rock the area....
Stan Moffat

And lots of things to eat...
Stan Moffat

Lots of rides...
Stan Moffat

It's fair time....

for the history of it...

Just a quick note to the kiddos...

Gene Hauf, who is owner of Hauf Auto Supply/Salvage next door to the studio and with whom I have been friends with since we moved to Stillwater, recently told me about how he used to ride his bike as a kid out to the old airport hangers on our land and they would climb up in the rafters and catch the pigeons ... and he lived in Stillwater, I think he said on Ramsey Street! He also said another great source for photos of the old airport would be the old shoe cobbler... who's name escapes me now, but he has passed away and his daughter now lives in his home... they lived across the street from where orville boyer used to live.. Gene said if he remembers right, there are tons of photos of the way it was back then... all I know for now.. this is also to remind me to follow up on this too.. haha... later.. just some FYI stuff...

A single sunbeam ...

Ann is raising some pigeons that "roll" in the air when they fly...  Posted by Picasa

Austyn getting ready to let it rip... at the studio playing Randy Burch's drums. Randy is drummer for Nick Gibson Band out of Stillwater and thinks it's cool that Austyn wants to play "his" drums!!  Posted by Picasa

Wonder what great things lie behind those eyes? What will he discover? How will he effect the world? How many lives will he change??  Posted by Picasa

Austyn stopped in to spend some time with us while his mom and dad went out to eat... he always makes us smile!! Posted by Picasa

check in time at the Payne County Fair. This is the Photography place, and I took some photos there to enter.  Posted by Picasa

Silence is not just not talking

Silence is not just not talking. It's a void. It's a place where all things come from. All voices, all creation comes out of this silence. So when you're standing on the edge of silence, you hear things you've never heard before, and you hear things in ways you've never heard them before. --John Francis

jakes addresses on web

Jakes blog is at http://www.jacobmoffat.blogspot.com/

and his photos are at http://jakemoffat.dotphoto.com

just copy address and paste and click to go there.

Jake

Jake made it home for a whirlwind tour... haha... he came in late Saturday night and then left Sunday evening. They got one day off and were to hit it again today, heading to Freedom to rebuild another rig on site before it "turns to the right". And with the kind of money that it takes to get things turning, they will be pressured every step of the way! He and another young man from Glencoe are the main team and seem to be enjoying the hard work and long hours and this will be the fourth rig they have rebuilt on their own. It's amazing to think of what they are doing, and how, and where and when, and remember when Jake was just burning rod at Grandpa Moffat's .... He is really enjoying the work and accomplishments and his bosses seem to be glad. It was a joy to have him home, any time he comes.

We are all kindred spirits in terms of our humanity -- in terms of our relationship to the horizontal human experience. We are all kindred spirits with more connection than differences without even taking the vertical -- the Spiritual relationship -- into consideration. --Robert Burney
