Sign of the times....

My youngest son Jacob... Jake has a welding business. Moffat Welding LLC and he is working for Goober Drilling in Stillwater, OK. and is helping them repair a bunch of rigs as they change location. They will start building new rigs later in the late summer of early fall. He just filled up his truck with diesel and his welding machine and it cost 198.00 to do so, and this is his fuel bill for one week. Can you imagine that what it would be if he lived further than 2 miles to work? So of the other welders drive from OKC and other places daily to work... wow... and Jake's truck only goes to location and back, not one extra trip. This is up about 75.00 over where it was a year and half ago when he was in Woodward working with Billy Keys working for Bronco Drilling.

This is indeed a sign of the times... This Sunday we are all getting together to celebrate Mother's Day with Ann who was traveling last weekend... This might be our last time to do such as a family this summer ~ with the price of fuel being what it is... Doesn't take a nat's brain to figure out what these types of prices are doing to the family budget. Most folks are not taking vacations, or if they do, are taking them very close to home... less eating out, most restaurants are telling us this. Tires are out of site, oil changes have about doubled, car sales are lagging, and this is just the start...

but on a nice note... last evening Isabella came over for Ann and I to watch while Jake and Trisha helped Jake's team (He is a coach in little league in Perkins) have a game. We did not get to go to Stillwater and watch the grandson's like we had planned, but ... it was a nice trade off. She is such a sweet little girl... she is now starting to hold her head up and look around and pay attention to noises, etc. and lets you know when things are not quite right... haha...

have a great day.... s

HELP WANTED

Just sharing ... Help Wanted....
Needed... strong back, weak mind, and lots of elbow grease. Garden needs weeded in the rows and mulch needs to be spread.
I think my garden idea was a great one, just out of date, but about 20 or so years... haha...
We do have some veggie's coming on ... We ate lettuce, radish, spinach and onions out of it for a couple of days... but now it's time to go to work... and get the mulch spread. Not sure how to do it. I know there is no easy way doing it like I have done... sigh... needed.. a small wagon or trailer with wide tires to travel in the soft dirt.. oh well... who knows..
might need to hire some grandson's to help me out??

Did YOU HEAR the news?

Andrew Paul Blankinship, a member of the Stillwater Snakes baseball team, called last night about 8:45pm and reported to Grandma Moffat and I that he had a great ball game but was kind of sad cause no one saw how good he did... including Grandpa and Grandma and .... Madison was busy playing, and Mom and Dad were busy ....

but.....

BUT....

He hit a home run and then ....

in the same game...

he said he caught the ball a boy on the other team hit and made the other boy out!!!

It went about 11 feet in the air he reported and he was a bit embarrassed as everyone was looking at him... and one of the biggest team mates of his ran over and picked him up and that scared him a bit... and they fell to the ground with excitement! He reported he was playing short stop at this point in the game... He was very excited...

He accomplished both in one game and he was on top of the world, and we were very very happy for him. What an exciting call to get. He made our day! He said he ran the bases really fast too. We are excited for him.

It was Madison's day on Sunday and Monday evening belonged to Andrew Paul!

Congratulations Andrew, great GREAT game! Hope you have many many more!

UPDATE:... and correction:
Andrew was wrong on who missed seeing the catch: The only one that missed the catch was Daddy, Heather saw it, Great Grandma, Aunt Marilyn, Grandpa and Grandma Blankinship and the other parents of the teams...
