north winds, being a private pilot, I learned that flags like this indicate 25 mile an hour or faster. Now take this wind and below freezing temps (30) and the inch or so of rain coming in hours for two days ( means more sticking to power lines and trees), and it could be like in the 1980's, when we lost electric for 2 weeks...
