Election in November, have ya heard?? haha...

Bear with me please, but this is my "Editorial" on the election:

In this time we are in, there have been many Champions, many hero's, many first's, and along the way, a few disappointments.
I still remember how truly embarrassed I was to be an American after the Clinton years ( I met Clinton and several of the others from that era when I was President of the Oklahoma Jaycees, and truly thought when he took office he would lead us to some of the best years ever, but wow, was I fooled!), and I am not a prude! I truly feel the Office of the President the most important office in our land and should have all the respect we can muster, or, who else then will honor it.
So needless to say, when, after a long drawn out election settled by the highest Court in the land, our newly elected President emerged, I was happy. And as we traveled along the bumpy road together, I, like many Americans, wondered, does our new President have want it takes. Can he do the job? Can he lead this Nation? Will he truly make American's proud again?
And then came 9-11. And on the days that followed, one of our bravest, strongest leaders ever emerged. And one could feel the pride down inside beginning to build, and the strength come, and then one evening, when our President almost cried during his famous speech, when he looked American's in the camera's eye, and shared with us how he truly felt, and where we were headed...... I cried too! Yelp, this ole man had tears running down his checks. Tears of Pride! George W Bush made us whole, made us proud, made us strong, and we felt untouchable!!
And still today, when memories come late in the still of the night of that time, the ole eyes get misty! I still find that I am so very proud to be an American, so very proud to be from Oklahoma, and so very proud of the young folks in this industry!
My point in all this is to share a link with you to help you remember.
George W. Bush (Click hear to watch) has a vision for our country. He has provided leadership and we have followed. He provided courage for us and we are indeed more courageous. He has made some tough tough decisions, and I am thankful I did not have to make! He, like us if we were elected, surrounded himself with the strongest men and women he could find to help lead. And they led!
Today, I have never been prouder to be an American. And I am so very proud of the young men and women in our armed forces. And so very thankful and reverent of those who gave their lives for our freedom, and the freedom of others. And so thankful for all in the coalition. Including Iraq's young men and women who are fighting besides all the others, risking their lives ever day to win for them the very freedom we enjoy every day!
Yelp, I am proud.
Now, when you are in the voting booth on Tuesday, November 2nd, please, take time to stop, think about where we have been, and how proud you are again, and say a prayer for all those who have died so we can be in that booth, and the strength of our leaders.... and then mark your ballot accordingly!

Today's Dad's birthday...

Today's Dad's birthday... so we pause to honor his memory. Like I told him before his passing, he was the best dad anyone could have had. He taught us wrong from right, to be humble, to take time to smell the roses, and to always be proud of this great country of ours. Then, he let us fly! And in his heart of hearts, he was always proud of us he said, and hoped for us the best of all things. He knew how proud we were of him, yet, he found it hard to believe!
He was so simple, yet so complex. He will always be in our memories, and in our hearts. Love ya Dad! Thanks for sending this beautiful day to honor your memory!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARILYN.. WE LOVE YA....

Sunday evening, we gathered at CC'S Pizza for a really good dinner with family celebrating Marilyn's ** birthday!! Sure glad she had one, that way we get to eat!!! In this pic, Andrew is showing his tattoo to Aunt Marilyn as the rest have jumped up and headed to where else, the chow line.. More pics later... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARILYN!~!!

Tammy is a teacher and really enjoys it very much. This picture was taken this past Thursday morning, and we found it in the paper today. This just in....

Mom earned a whopping TWO dollars from the weekend's efforts at the big Family Garage Sale. This opposed to others who did quite well. Ann and I would put things in it, but me being the son of Elinore, there is usually nothing left to sell when I am done with something...

Oh.. I forgot to mention...Mom adopted a daughter this past week! Yes sir e.. She did. Approximately two years old, white with a bit of black, and really cute and lovable, and loves Mom's attention. She really fits in well with Mom's adopted son, too. We just can not wait to see how long it is before she spoils her and, as most know, mom loves to "feed" things, so can not wait to see how long before Mom has her in the same shape as her adopted son. Will put up a picture of her soon for all to enjoy! Sorry, I forgot to ask Mom her name. How embarrassing!

We received about 3/4 of an inch of welcomed rain over last few days. We were really starting to get dry. But then with rain once a week all summer long, it did not take much to become dry, as the grass and plants did not "root down" like in the normal summer months, since water was always close to the top of the ground, too. Now with this being October, the leaves are starting to turn and fall. No freeze yet, but I remember several times with the kiddos in Tulsa at State Fair, there would be ice on the wash rack on this date! This is the day the Junior Heifer Show concludes with the Angus and Maine's showing. We have a family that is keeping three Angus heifers here and they are at the show with two of them, so wish them luck today. Jake has another interest in today's show, since the Shultz Ranch sold a heifer to a family in the county that will be in the Maine show. This Shultz heifer is a super female, and should do quite well, he reports.

Oh, while on a typing spurt... Yeah to OU... tough game, the team really stepped up and showed their character! My goodness, doesn't Bob Stoops just make you proud to be from Oklahoma!! He really is a great man great morals, and super character, and truly reach into the hearts and souls of his young men and get them to achieve the dreams they desire. Just imagine these young men after graduation, in the work place with this philosophy instilled inside their minds... bet they are some of the most recruited men in this region, especially those who truly went to college to get an education, and excelled! I truly do not know which makes me prouder, their winning, or the character that shines through their leader!! Ophs, that is a lie!!! It's the character of Stoops! Just listen to him talk about the team. Would you not be proud to be part of it, the way he speaks of the team and their abilities?
But not to overlook Oklahoma State either! Wow two teams in one state... one is 45 minutes south of OKC and the other is 45 mins north... and both are in the Top 25 in USA!! Both are undefeated this season, with a 5-0 record, and both have great players on their teams. I will grant that OSU is now beginning to face some tough teams for the first time this season, where OU just played the 4th rank team, Texas, to a 12-0 victory. OSU will get it's first taste of real competition this coming weekend with Texas coming to their home for their homecoming. This will be a REAL test of the team. When Miles first came to OSU he decide the team needed to walk from the student union to the stadium to instill some pride into the team. As things progressed, they started walking farther... as they were not winning, and a lot of us laughed in the beginning and had heard his first news conference that really sucked, etc. and said "before long, he will have them walking from OKC!" But accordingly, Miles has put together some solid men coaching under him to make up for his short comings, and is a true guardian of the team. There is indeed a new spirit of rebirth inside the team and while they are young, they are talented. Now, with the real season starting, time will tell us if they are indeed as good as they are rated. Let's hope they are! It's not that I do not support them. It's that I guess they have not earned my respect, as they have not played the tough schedule that OU has.

OK, enough of sports... haha.. well almost! Oklahoma now has a new rowing facility located on the Canadian River, or what ever they have named it now, in OKC. They held a rowing contest there over this last weekend, with even a team from Harvard in attendance, and all said it is a great facility, and the "new" river, is awesome for rowing. The river was re worked and locks added to help revitialize downtown OKC, and it passed it's test. So a new sport added to landlocked OSU and OU and others in state. The OSU equestrian team continues to pile up wins too, leading the Big 12 conference, and schools in the region with points. The coach, Sanchez, lives two miles north of Mom's, and he is a super individual, as well.

And you thought I was off sports... ahahaaaa.... my bad!!

Grandson's did not get along well Friday, I heard. Each had a reason why and concerned the other, haha. Boy do I remember when....

Jon says things are on track for them and Katilyn... They are heading to OKC to have an ultra sound made by her Doctor, just to be sure this coming Tuesday. Just weeks away folks, so be sure and stay tuned for all the excitement.

Phil is on cloud 9! They have a new FASTER computer, that he, Tammy and Austyn will really enjoy!! His job requires a lot of driving and he sees a lot of things no one else does, so he is thinking of getting a new camera that will allow him to share with us the awesome sites he sees each day in his duties. That would be great... as you know, I love pics.

By the way, if you do not subscribe to the Perkins Journal, you should! David Sassar has really stepped up the quality of the weekly paper, and it contains tons of local news, much more than you will find in the daily Stillwater NewsPress, that cost 100 a year, and Perkins Journal is only 28 dollars a year!! What a deal!!

Well, guess I could go on and on.. but should not, haha.

Marilyn and Mom.....

Soon to have a Great Grand Daughter, Great Grandma Moffat and Aunt Marilyn attended the shower along with other family members and a great time was had by all... Speaking of the two... (Mom and MK) they are having a garage sale yesterday and today!! Phil and Jake have added in some things, too, so it is a big one, but through the grapevine, I heard Mom is about ready to fire all of them, as she has only sold a dollar's worth of things. This is something that they do each fall and sometimes in the spring too. Later...

Look who made the local paper.....

Look who was in our local paper, The Stillwater News Press today. For those who do not know, this great man is Andrew Paul Blankinship's Grandfather, Roy Blankinship, Paul's dad. He has a fantastic career in law enforcement in Payne County retiring from the Stillwater Police Dept. for a few days and going full time with the Payne County Sheriff's Department. Roy and Joan live east of Heather and Paul's a few miles, where they own and operate a large farm and ranch. They run cattle, well, a little of everything, including a Boer goat herd they are constantly working to improve. They are great folks, and super grandparents to Andrew!! And they are two of the nicest folks you would ever meet! I honestly can say that Roy's friendship has meant a bunch to me over the years. I am truly glad we crossed paths!! Enjoy the day... I will try to get original from NewPress MAYBE....

Uncle Ivan home...

Hey ... the greatest news arrived tonight!! Uncle Ivan is home from the hospital!!! We are so excited!! WELCOME HOME, UNCLE IVAN!!! and you too Aunt Freda! WE know how when one goes.. it is really all! So welcome home, and please Uncle Ivan, stay well, and get strong! Might jus5t have to come down and arm wrestle ya, but I am sure you'd win!

The picture shows that this soldier has been thru Survival School and learned his lessons well. He's giving the sign of "coercion" with his left hand. These hand signs are taught in survival school to be used by POW's as a method of posing messages back to our intelligence services who may view the photo or video. This guy was obviously being coerced into shaking hands with Hillary Clinton. It's ironic how little she knew that he would so inform us about the photo - - - perhaps because she's never understood our brave military to begin with .

Uncle Ivan... Jon... etc...

Wanted everyone to know that Uncle Ivan is in Parkview Hospital, El Reno, with a virus.. nasty one, I believe. I talked with Aunt Freda Sunday mid afternoon and she reported that we should not visit till they know for sure what he has is not spreadable! The address to send a card, etc. is: Ivan Moffat,Patient c/o Parkview Hospital, 2115 Parkview Dr. El Reno, OK 73036. To call the room direct, dial 1 405 295 1031.
They thought they might go home this day.. but early on, Uncle Ivan had a bad spell with food, so they are still there. Will stay in touch and let you know. He has not been feeling well since Dad's funeral. (Kind'a sounds like HIB.. that Dad had and was in Baptist Hosptial in OKC with when the Bombing occured!)

Jonathan, on another note, spent most of last week and weekend in Tishmingo, or driving back and forth to home in Roff... to attend the 2004 Chickasaw Annual Meeting & Festival, and take pictures for thier website. He should have some awesome ones to look at!

Heather and Paul went to a couple of Goat Sales this past Saturday and reported that registered Boer Goats were selling very high. This is the breed they raise. Said they saw one sell for 2100 dollars and many others as high or higher.

Phillip stopped by Saturday to show us some pictures he had printed of Austyn playing at school. They looked awesome. Will try to put them up later on...

Jake is on way to get his car tag this am. Dr. Shultz got home from a "mini vacation"... he and Barbara went to New England to tour Fall Foliage, and reported to Jake it was very beautiful this time of year. They returned home Saturday, and Jake and he got together yesterday afternoon so Jake could brief him on Ranch Activities, such as new baby heifer born last Thursday, feeding, cattle, etc...

Guess this is about it for now. If you wish Ivan's home address to send a card, email Marilyn and she will share it with you, or Joanna has it as well.

Look who came to play yesterday afternoon... Yelp, ole' Andrew.. Seems Mom and Dad were off to the Boer Goat sales in the county... at Perkins and in Stillwater at Fairgrounds, and decided that maybe Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Jake might like to "Play" with Andrew... and they were right!! We had a ball. This was one of the few times he was still!! Earlier he saw Phil drive up and he started hollaring "Austyn, Austyn, Austyn"... and almost broke down the door, however, Austyn was not with Phil, so he was very disappointed, and it took a bit to calm down. It is really neat to see who close the boys have become. Hopefully, the being close will last a lifetime!! Enjoy! Have a great day!!

Goes for Aunts, Cousins, in laws, outlaws... haha.. everyone in the Family needs to be on this... PLEASE???? Yelp, Uncle Ivan, Uncle Calvin.... you too!!! and Joanna... and Clint, and Jim... and Doris............. ok ... we are a big family and getting bigger, and this will help all to keep up........... ok, I heard the chuckle in the back of the room........
