Iowa Farm Boy - from PJ...

Iowa Farm Boy
A young farm lad from North Iowa goes off to college, but about 1/3 of
the way through the semester, he has foolishly squandered away all of the money his
parents gave him.

Then he gets an idea. He calls his daddy. "Dad," he says, "you won't
believe the wonders that modern education is coming up with! Why, they actually have a
program here at
Iowa State that will teach our dog Ol' Blue how to talk!"

"That's absolutely amazing," his father says. "How do I get him in that
program?"

"Just send him down here with $1,000" the boy says. "I'll get him into
the course." So, his father sends the dog and the $1,000.

About 2/3 way through the semester, the money runs out. The boy calls
his father again.

"So how's Ol' Blue doing, son," his father asks.

"Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't
believe this - they've had such good results with this program that they've implemented
a new one to teach the animals how to READ!"

"READ," says his father, "No kidding! What do I have to do to get him in
that program?" Just send $2,500, I'll get him in the class." His father sends the money.

The boy now has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find
out that the dog can neither talk, nor read. So he shoots the dog.

When he gets home at the end of the semester, his father meets him at
the gate, and is all excited.

"Where's Ol' Blue? I just can't wait to see him talk and read something!"

"Dad," the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just
before we left to drive home, Ol' Blue was in the living room kicked back in the recliner,
reading the Wall Street Journal, like he usually does. Then he turned to me and asked,
"So, is your daddy still messin' around with that little redhead who lives in town?"

The father says, "I hope you SHOT that son of a *^%$# before he talks to
your Mother!"

"I sure did, Dad!"

"That's my boy!"

(The kid went on to be a prominent democrat.......)

THIS IS TOO SWEET FOR WORDS!!!

THIS IS TOO SWEET FOR WORDS!!!

A six-year-old boy told his father he wanted to marry the little girl across the street. The father, being modern and well-schooled in handling children, hid his smile behind his hand.

"That's a serious step," he said. "Have you thought it out completely?"

"Yes," his young son answered. "We can spend one week in my room and the next in hers. It's right across the street, so I can run home if I get scared of the dark."

"How about transportation?" the father asked.

"I have my wagon, and we both have our tricycles," the little boy answered.

The boy had an answer to every question the father raised.

Finally, in exasperation, his dad asked, "What about babies? When you're married, you're liable to have babies, you know."

"We've thought about that, too," the little boy replied.
"We're not going to have babies. Every time she lays an egg, I'm going to step on it!"

And as fast as it started... it was over....

and ole Number 10, Mr. Austyn, is the 'lead off' batter at their next game....

and then our day was over, and it was home... and hopefully this ole man will be able to walk tomorrow... haha...

What a wonderful Grandparents Day we had!!!

Hurry hurry hurry....

Posted by Picasa

got it.....

Posted by Picasa
Posted by Picasa

then ole number 10 played Second base and had many good plays... doing it...
Posted by Picasa

then finally, it's our turn to bat.. this is why we play... to take turns at batting the ball out of the park...
Posted by Picasa

just working Right Field..... right Ann??? Right field??? haha... you had to be there to understand this, but let's just say I had a 'Heather' moment... haha.... right? Left? haha... anywho....
Posted by Picasa

and then the wait starts.... since they were at bat first, and Austyn was number 10 and they batted in shirt number.... there was a certain amount of 'down' time too...
Posted by Picasa

Phil took these photos....

Do you think just maybe they were fired up....???? haha....
Posted by Picasa

here is ole "Number 10" before the game... getting ready...

Posted by Picasa

And we

hurried home so Heather and Andrew to get to the Annual Policemen/Firefighters ballgame in Stillwater so Andrew could cheer his Dad on... and we ate a quick bite, Phil stopped by and thank goodness he did because we would have been late to Andrews opening game.... we thought the time was 7:20 and it was 7:10... and after running by Tiger to get me some Meds... we made it to Andrews season opener... of Coach Pitch baseball.

this was the most touching part of that stop.... you just have to see it to feel it... and I learned about Street Hitches, something that I did not know ever existed in our world, yet I can remember Dad talking about feeding the horses at 530am when he was young so his brothers and Dad could get to the fields and how they could lay out the harness and the horses would find their places and stand while they were hitched up...
At the museum, there are pictures of this event with horses at the OKC Fire Dept. where they are demonstrating this event.
