From El Reno Tribune newspaper online... Obituaries for April 9, 2008 page

Siegrest, Calvin Leroy (paid)
Mr. Calvin Leroy Siegrist of El Reno died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon. He was born on a farm west of Okarche on April 29, 1925. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1942, and attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. He worked as a geophysical engineer for several years before returning to farming. At age 10, Calvin harvested his first wheat crop to assist his ill father. He took pride in participating in 70 consecutive wheat harvests.

Calvin served several terms as chairman of the Canadian County Republican Party, and as chairman of the Canadian County Election Board. He served as trustee of the Canadian County Trust Authority. Calvin was also a member of the El Reno Industrial Planning Board, Banner Co-Op and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Calvin was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in El Reno where he served as deacon, ruling elder, Sunday school teacher and unofficial coffee brewmaster.

Calvin’s favorite activities include visiting with others and enjoying food of all kinds.

Calvin was preceded in death by parents, Jake Siegrist and Maude (Snethen) Siegrist.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes (Palmer) Siegrist of the home; son, Kent Siegrist of Norman; son, David Siegrist and wife, Angie of El Reno; and granddaughters, Emily Siegrist and Molly Siegrist. Calvin also leaves behind a sister, Elinore Moffat, niece, Marilyn Moffat, and nephew, Stanley Moffat, all of Perkins.

The family suggests memorials be given to either First Presbyterian Church, 221 S. Barker, El Reno 73036, or the Oklahoma Medical Re-search Foundation, Heart Disease Division, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, Okla. 73104.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at First Presbyterian Church in El Reno. Rev. Harrell D. Davis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Kingfisher Memorial Cemetery. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno.
