Madison enjoyed other things instead of the trip, or at least she wanted you to think that.. haha...

 

This shot reminds me of life a bit... trying to figure out the real from the mirrowed...

 

first time I have seen the stumps under the water since we bought the place in 1960. I wondered what life was like when the pond was built, and who did it and how...

 

No this is not staged! Ann is enjoying the trip as much as Andrew, however by the end of this outing, Madison was HEAVY and Ann was tired to say the least!!

 

and there were plenty of shells... but he enjoyed throwing rocks into the pond... like most boys would, haha...

Andrew and Madison stayed with us yesterday afternoon and evening, so Mom and Dad could take care of some business in Tulsa. We did the lunch thing and then Ms. Madison took a nap. Shortly after her waking up, Ann and I took the kiddos on a exploring trip around the farm. Our first stop was the bottom 'double pond', we call it, however, like Ann mentioned, the second pond is no more, it is a dry pond bed, but anyway, enjoy the photos...

I saw this early and took some early shots with my phone which are posted on the stanmobile.blogspot.com site. Even before I took those, the front moving through and the clear skies below it was breathtaking. I wish I had my camera earlier and we could have really enjoyed those shots! Enjoy the day!

Great evening with the Robinson's in Stillwater last evening...

 

We visited with some life long family friends last evening. Ann and I and Great grandmother and MK and Phil and Tammy and Austyn had a wonderful time with Sharon, Lawerence, and Morgan.

Highlight: besides the way to much super great food, we learned of a fantastic party Morgan threw for his friends before Christmas that was strange, enlightening, and completely different from the run of the mill parties. These guests and Morgan will remember this party for their whole lives due to the circumstances of it.

Enjoy the day. I think the supercharged bunny and her brother are coming over for a bit, and yesterday we kept Austyn in the am. How cool, being a grandparent!! Loving it more and more everyday! But it sure helps remind you that it is better at 60 to have grandkids than kiddos of your own... haha... love to all..... s

A story worth repeating....

Senator McCain was a guest on IMUS this am and was telling about his mother who is 94 years young having a broken hip and him and his family having to keep "mom down" while the hip was healing... He said, " To show you the problem in it's fullest, my mother decided to go to Europe and travel around and she flew to Paris, landed, went straight to the car rental place, they asked for ID, she showed them her valid driver's license, and they promptly turned her down for a car rental due to her 94 years of age. She, being a resourceful woman and one not taking no for an answer, walked out of the airport, walked 4 blocks to a new car dealership, bought a car, and drove by the car rental place honking her horn... to pick up her luggage at the airport!

Now, that tells you no age is too old... haha....

Celebrating New Years and Ann's 60th Birthday...

Ann talked with almost all her family on her birthday and we went out to eat the night before... but we did not know there was a home game for OSU basketball.... haha... so pickings were slim as to where to go... We did celebrate her 60th Birthday by cooking burgers on the grill in 30ish temps with 30 mile an hour winds.. interesting to say the least... but we did eat and had a great time... as you can see ... Austyn provide some entertainment....

We look back on the years gone by,

remembering people and places from the past.

While the people pass on and the places change,

the memories they bring to mind shall last.

The people we knew as a child live out their lives.

Years pass by and the people become old.

Even though now they have gone to their eternal home,

their living memories are still ours to hold.

We remember the places we knew as a child,

how grand they looked in such royal style.

Now they're replaced by sights of old and dreary scenes

as if now tears are shed to replace a smile.

We look at the world around us now.

We see what is here and what is not here.

We see how things have changed before our eyes.

We wonder if progress really can fill our hears with cheer.

We look forward to the year ahead,

wondering what the future holds for us all.

Will peace bring us light or will war bring us darkness.

by then will there be someone who even cares at all.

The past we have seen, the future we have yet to see.

That is one thing we all know for certain.

As the drama of life begins it's final scene,

someone, somewhere, is ready to close the curtain.

Happy Birthday Cathrene Ann Shaklee Moffat... the love of my life!

the love of my life turns 60 TODAY - New Years Eve. It has been an awesome road we have traveled, full of very high highs and very low lows, but for some reason this wonderful lady stuck with me. For that I am forever greatful. I just wanted to take a second to wish her a very happy birthday and put the world on notice that another senior driver is on the road... ha ha.... l luv ya dear...... smiling... The smile on your face says it all!

Ky and Jade Shaklee

Ky came home to Lahoma to see mom and dad, David and Terry Shaklee over Christmas and they came for Christmas at our home. We really enjoyed seeing her and her folks and missed so much seeing Jade. She and we are very proud of her and all her treasures... including her keeping the family history as she has. The things she has kept are truly unbelievable. She can tell you what the weather was on June 1st, 1941, or the price of bread they paid and where it was bought back in October 15, 1953, or the price of cull cows on May 17, 1962 at the Perkins Y Sale Barn and when MK did what and what Stan did on what day and it is almost to the hour! this is an almost perfect leaf that Grandma Ann found in the yard yesterday... It's just kind'a cool... and sense we don't have to clean up our yard from them like our 'city' neighbors do... we love them! (The wind blows ours away in just a few hours, if that long).

Ok.... this is 'our' christmas gift to ourselves from us... haha... Ann and I have a total electric home and after giving our home an extreme makeover...haha... we decided we needed our wood heat back just in case, so we went hog wild and purchased a new stove for our home. With the help of a drummer friend of ours, Randy Burch, we got it installed and now we can now stay warm, well.... if we can just get the money together to get Ann a new chain saw, I know where there are some trees she can cut down in her spare time so we can stay warm... haha... ole I bet she will kill me now!!! Anyho, just trying to keep this space red neck... haha... love to all, hope your Christmas was as wonderful as ours!
