Happy Birthday Jonathan and many many more...
a mother and daughter in their last moments
had announced the departure.
Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough".
The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough.Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom".
They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated.
Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good- bye to someone knowing it would be forever?".
Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?".
"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said.
"When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'.May I ask what that means?".
She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them". Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
She then began to cry and walked away.
...'They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them ... but then an entire life to forget them.'

The Ballad of Job
The Ballad of Job
(Taken from the book of Job)
Come and listen to my story 'bout a man named Job
A righteous man, and the richest on the globe
Then one day, just to test Job's faith
God allowed Satan to take it all away
Flocks, that is, all his servants, his children too.
Well the next thing you know, Job was tempted to deny
Kinfolk said, "Job, curse God and die!"
Said, "Only sinners get this kind of grief!"
But he stood fast and he held onto his belief
"The Lord gives, the Lord takes away.
Blessed be the name of the Lord!"
Now it's time to say goodbye to Job and all his pain
Even all that trouble wouldn't make him curse God's name
And then the Lord gave him more children for posterity
And then a heapin' helpin' of his old prosperity.
Riches, that is. God is faithful.
Whatever happens, y'all praise God now, hear?
Al Gore's lies.....
Deck of Cards
It was during the Vietnam conflict, a bunch of soldiers had been on a long hike and they arrived in a town called Saigon. And the next morning being Sunday, several of the boys went to Church. After the Chaplain had read the prayer, the text was taken up next.
Those of the boys who had a prayer book took them out, but this one boy had only a deck of cards, and so he spread them out. The Sergeant in charge of the soldiers saw the cards and said, "Soldier, put away those cards." After the services was over, the soldier was taken prisoner and brought before the Provost Marshall.
The Marshall said, "Sergeant, why have you brought this man
here?" "For playing cards in church, Sir." "And what have you to say for yourself, son?" "Much, Sir," replied the soldier. The Marshall said, "I hope so, for if not I shall punish you more than any man was ever punished." The soldier said, "Sir, I have been on the march for about six days. I have neither a Bible nor a prayer book, but I hope to satisfy you, Sir, with the purity of my intentions." And with that, the boy started his story:
"You see Sir, when I look at the Ace, it reminds me that there
is but one God.And the Deuce reminds me that the Bible is divided into two parts, the Old and the New Testaments.
When I see the Trey, I think of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
And when I see the Four, I think of the four Evangelists who preached the Gospel; there was Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
And when I see the Five, it reminds me of the five wise virgins who trimmed their lamps; there were ten of them: five were
wise and were saved, five were foolish and were shut out.
When I see the Six, it reminds me that in six days, God made this great heaven and earth.
When I see the Seven, it reminds me that on the seventh day, God
rested from His great work.
And when I see the Eight, I think of the eight righteous persons God saved when He destroyed this earth; there was Noah, his wife, their sons and their wives.
And when I see the Nine, I think of the lepers our Savior cleansed, and nine out of the ten didn't even thank Him.
When I see the Ten, I think of the Ten Commandments God
handed down to Moses on a table of stone.
When I see the King, it reminds me that there is but one King of Heaven, God Almighty.
And when I see the Queen, I think of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is Queen ofHeaven.
And the Jack or Knave is the Devil.
When I count the number of spots on a deck of cards, I find 365, the number of days in a year.
There are 52 cards, the number of weeks in a year.
There are 4 suits, the number of weeks in a month.
There are 12 picture cards, the number of months in a year. There are 13 tricks, the number of weeks in a quarter.
So you see, Sir, my pack of cards serves me as a Bible, an Almanac and a Prayer Book."
"And friends, the story is true, because my son was that soldier."

DON'T SQUAT WITH YER SPURS ON: A COWBOY'S GUIDE TO LIFE
DON'T SQUAT WITH YER SPURS ON: A COWBOY'S GUIDE TO LIFE
by Texas Bix Bender
* Never kick a fresh cow chip on a hot day.
* There's two theories to arguin' with a woman. Neither one works.
* Don't worry about bitin' off more than you can chew. Your mouth is
probably a whole lot bigger'n you think.
* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try
orderin' somebody else's dog around.
* Never ask a man the size of his spread.
* After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started
roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The
moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.
* If you find yourself in a hole the first thing to do is stop
diggin'.
* Never smack a man who's chewin' tobacco.
* It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep.
* Never ask a barber if he thinks you need a haircut.
* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from
bad judgment.
* Always drink upstream from the herd.
* Never drop your gun to hug a grizzly.
* If you're ridin' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and
then to make sure it's still there.
* When you give a lesson in meanness to a critter or a person, don't
be surprised if they learn their lesson.
* When you're throwin' your weight around, be ready to have it thrown
around by somebody else.
* Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it
back.
* Always take a good look at what you're about to eat. It's not so
important to know what it is, but it's critical to know what it was.
* The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it
back in your pocket.
* Never miss a good chance to shut up.
