Unemployment
From the government idiots that are in place under obubba... here are their numbers they released this week... but then we are used to their lies.....
| UNEMPLOYMENT AT 9.0% +36,000 JOBS... CANADA +69,200... and NOW, here is the real deal, the actual numbers are UP... someone in the dumb house missed a decimal point, but I am sure we will here they 'misspoke'... sigh! - Remember when you could trust those elected to SERVE us? GALLUP: Unemployment actually at 9.9%... 'Under-employment' at 19.2%... Labor Force Participation Plunges To Fresh 26 Year Low... 1 in 5 of us is working for less than we should be, or is off unemployment with NO job. How bad would the numbers be if folks could get to the unemployment office or better yet, the office was open when they did get there, due to weather. Wow! And if we sort this all out,in the end, there is only one to blame and it's each of us for not caring and supporting and working for better folks to represent us, and not caring about what they do when there. We have to start caring, or there will be nothing left for our children's children. Not sure how to fix this broken wagon, but we have to start and pray we are doing the right thing. A good place to start might be understanding that going into a local store and buying things made in America, if you can find such, is the way to go. Even if one has to pay more, we are helping create jobs at HOME. Another thing to think about is buying off net. It is easy to do and most cost effective to most, but ... are we buying local and are we buying made in USA this way. I love to find the best deal and save money and have it delivered to my door, just like everyone else. I hate with a passion and always have WalMart and their buy it here and save and prices are falling here.. well they sure have... along with the jobs they have got rid of in America. Are you old enough to remember when Sam started the chain and he had it plastered everywhere one should buy at Walmart because they are a USA company buying in the USA and how it helps America to trade with them. and everything had made in USA promo on it... (then I am guessing, the dollar came into play, and the USA went out the window, along with most American manufacturing and JOBS.) I complained about all the junk they started selling as did all my friends... and then, it hit me one day, there is nothing made in this country anymore. Look around. Try to find an American product that is truly made here. Look for manufacturing plants in Oklahoma. Think of the ones that are no longer here, where did they go. ok... nough... just needed to vent. Let's see if we can do our part to help America out of a jam, and buy USA things. And support local businesses that buy and have Made in USA products. I am sure this sounds unAmerican to some, but simple things... IF you drive Chevy, or GM product, or import brand... maybe think about the ONE company that did not take bail out money and is proudly making the move to bring back all its products to USA... yuda yuda. haha... |

The Politics of Saving 'Granny'

ObamaCare has recently been dealt three body blows. Speaker John Boehner pushed a bill to repeal it through the House. GOP leader Mitch McConnell will get to put Senate Democrats on record with a vote on repeal as well. And this week, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson declared the law unconstitutional.
The White House's reaction is dismissive. The nation doesn't want to "re-litigate" ObamaCare, we're told. So long as Mr. Obama sits in the Oval Office, repeal is going nowhere. The Supreme Court will uphold the law. And by 2012, health care will be a winning issue for Democrats.
I'm not so sure. Take the question of Granny. In a speech last Friday defending his health-care law's effect on seniors against GOP attacks, Mr. Obama said, "I can report that Granny is safe." She may not feel that way if she's one of the 700,000 seniors whose private Medicare Advantage insurance policy was not renewed last year because her insurance provider quit the business.
There will be more nonrenewals in 2011. This year's funding cuts to Medicare Advantage will be $2 billion; next year's will be $6 billion. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) estimate that half of those with Medicare Advantage policies—seven million seniors—will lose their coverage eventually. And 60% the doctors surveyed by the nonprofit Physicians Foundation said health-care reform would "compel them to close or significantly restrict" the number of patients in their practices, especially those on Medicare or Medicaid.
Granny's daughter, son and grandchildren are not all that safe, either. Providers such as Guardian Life and the Principal Financial Group are dropping their health-insurance businesses. And companies will be tempted to drop coverage for their employees and dump them onto the government's tab.
No taxpayer is safe, either. Last week Richard Foster, CMS's chief actuary, confirmed to Congress that ObamaCare's Medicare cuts couldn't be used to reduce both Medicare's unfunded liability and to pay for ObamaCare's expense. Since the Obama administration is relying on this double counting to rig the numbers, Mr. Foster's testimony was particularly damaging.
What the country most needs—and what the GOP must now advocate—is a fundamentally new approach to containing health-care costs.
The most promising model for Medicare comes from Clinton Budget Director Alice Rivlin and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R., Wis.). Under their plan, starting in 2021 those turning 65 and going on Medicare would get a fixed contribution to use to purchase insurance, allowing them in many instances to keep their existing coverage. Consumers will be in charge.
Annual support would grow at the same yearly rate as the economy plus 1%. Medicare payments would be adjusted by income, geography and health risk. Poor seniors would get extra help for out-of-pocket expenses.
This bipartisan model builds on the success of the Medicare prescription drug benefit passed in 2003. This market- and competition-oriented experiment gave seniors a fixed sum they could use to purchase drug insurance coverage. In response, drug companies and insurance providers flooded the market with options that drove prices for consumers down.
Though more seniors signed up for the benefit, signed up quicker and used it more than expected, the program costs much less than estimated (the original Congressional Budget Office estimate was $552 billion for the first 10 years, but the estimated cost is now $385 billion). Competition and consumer choice are far more effective in containing costs than is bureaucratic price-setting.
We're at an unprecedented moment. The huge historic advantage Democrats have enjoyed on the health-care issue has evaporated. ObamaCare is increasingly less popular. Its unpopularity is up nine points in the last month, to 50%, in a Kaiser/Harvard survey. The public is now taking a close look at what the Republican Party might have to offer.
The Rivlin-Ryan alternative plan is bold and not without risk. Past efforts at entitlement reform haven't been successful. Having worked in the Bush White House during the 2005 Social Security battle, I know of what I speak. Still, the Rivlin-Ryan plan is right on substance. And unlike 2005, it may also be the right moment.
Thanks in good measure to Mr. Obama's profligacy, the entitlement crisis is no longer a vague, abstract concern. More and more Americans understand the current course leads to a disaster for the nation's finances. And so the public may be willing to go places and do things that in the past it may not have.

Great Grandma in hospital over last weekend.
First time she has been in at the age of 91 for health. She was in the same hospital in 1978 with a broken back for 6 or 8 weeks falling from the top of the hay barn to the ground.
And you know what, she will run you a race today, if you'd like!

(Reuters) - A judge in Florida on Monday became the second judge to declare President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law unconstitutional, in the biggest legal challenge yet to federal authority to enact the law.
U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson, appointed to the bench by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, ruled that the reform law's so-called "individual mandate" went too far in requiring that Americans start buying health insurance in 2014 or pay a penalty.
"Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire act must be declared void. This has been a difficult decision to reach, and I am aware that it will have indeterminable implications," Vinson wrote.
He was referring to a key provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and sided with governors and attorneys general from 26 U.S. states, almost all of whom are Republicans, in declaring it unconstitutional. The issue will likely end up at the Supreme Court.
The plaintiffs represent more than half the U.S. states, so the Pensacola case has more prominence than two dozen lawsuits filed in federal courts over the healthcare law.
The healthcare overhaul, a cornerstone of Obama's presidency, aims to expand health insurance to cover millions of uninsured Americans while also curbing costs. Administration officials insist it is constitutional and needed to stem huge projected increases in healthcare costs.
Two other federal judges have rejected challenges to the individual mandate.
But a federal district judge in Richmond, Virginia, last month struck down that central provision of the law in a case in that state, saying it invited an "unbridled exercise of federal police powers."
The provision is key to the law's mission of covering more than 30 million uninsured. Officials argue it is only by requiring healthy people to purchase policies that they can help pay for reforms, including a mandate that individuals with pre-existing medical conditions cannot be refused coverage.
